Keiss (7 miles north of Wick)

I left the Bongo at Wick this morning and caught the bus to Lybster.    On the same bus were a group from the Railway Ramblers who also intended to Wick but along a disused railway.  So I walked with  the group for the first half of the day until I stopped to see the Whaligoe Steps.   The steps themselves were impressive but the associated cafe was quite the most expensive and pretentious I have been in on the entire trip.

I reached Wick at 4.30 and decided to press on a bit further as the weather tomorrow is set to be awful.  So drove to Keiss, parked, and got the 16.58 bus (just!) back to wick.   Arrived at Keiss about 8pm, very tired but with only 10 miles left to JOG.

Berriedale

I have spent much of the last few days walking along the A9, usually without a path.   Yesterday was busy and noisy but today the roads were very quiet.   I now only have about 3 days left and am estimating being at John P Groats at tea time Zulu on Wednesday.   At the rate I have been walking I might even manage it in two days, but I wouldn't be fit to drive afterwards so why bother.

Tain

As usual the day started with a noisy walk alongside a busy road.  Eventually I left the main roads and walked the last 12 miles on a small back road.  Unfortunately this coincided with the start of the rain and, with nowhere to stop on this back road, I walked the last 12 miles without a break.

Dingwall

A few very long days much of which was spent walking near the A9, or at least close enough for it to be noisy.

Aviemore

Over the last several days I have walked to Aviemore via Kinross, Perth, Dunkeld, Dalwinnie and Newtonmore.

Edinburgh

Along the John Muir Way from Dunbar.  This trail is amongst the best in the UK in my view.

Having a few days off now to sort out university stuff as it is results day in the morning.

Dunbar

We walked along the coast most of the way, past lighthouses, power stations and quarries.
